first , welcome in my blog …definitely i understand that the the majority of the community will be more inclined to the introductory sessions , its nice from you that you mentioned the sessions you were preparing behind the scenes it assures my opinion about the effort i touched in the event , you have right in that the introductory sessions before the event wouldn’t have been effective because of the distant place , but maybe if you dedicated some pages in the event site to introduce wordpress for he beginners it would have achieved the same result

for me i left before the two last sessions “how to make a plugin” and “how to make a theme” after i knew its content and make sure that they were the last. i understand these topics are more advanced than the previous ones but as i stated before from my opinion we can get these info from wordpress documentation , i wanted some argumentative issues that is not yet solved or misunderstood to be discussed openly .

anyway , i understand that in order the event be successful it should suit the majority audience in first place (not the minority) …and you fulfilled that making the event successful , even if some advanced users wanted more in depth this can be achieved in later events isA…i will wait the next event and am sure it will be great

If you saw the whole list of sessions we were preparing – which was not published, lucky us -, you would have found almost 30+ Sessions! – great number, ha? – and some of them are not familiar for some advanced WP users by a survey we have made before the event. In the same survey we found that the majority of the community we are a part of (CAT) loves the introductory sessions for the first time and then they move to more advanced levels.

WordCamp Egypt 2010 in-sha2-Allah will be totally different, we are even thinking about having it for more than one day, to have a variety of sessions and to have more presenters and sessions, I think you will like this one, but we are still thinking about people who travel from other cities

I’m totally with you about the idea of having such introductory sessions before the event, but what about people who came from Cairo, Alex, Zagazig, and a lot of other cities? do you think they will come twice for such sessions!? So we had to make it this way, at least for the first time as other comments said

و ان كنت سألت و كان بودي ان اعرف اكثر عن كيفية الربح بشكل عملي من مشاريع المصادر المفتوحة .. فهذه نقطة تجعل الكثيرين يترددون قبل الدخول في عالم المصادر المفتوحة او قبل تحويل مشروع او برنامج لهم لمصدر مفتوح

نقطة اضافة خصائص و مواكبة العصر و نقطة الحفاظ علي البساطة و فلسفات اخري كثيرية و مبادئ كانت بجاجة الي نقاش و الي وجهات نظر و نقاش من الحضور و المحاضرين بشكل افضل

و سنحاول بكل جهدنا التركيز عليها ليخرج الحدث بشكل افضل

اهلا هوندا …هو واضح فعلا ان فية خبرة فى تقديم المؤتمرات المماثلة , بس اعتقد ان الموضوعات المطروحة دى ترجع للمنظمين ووردبرس هترفض لية ؟طالما موضوعات تتعلق بالحدث حتى لو كانت بدائية دة شىء يرجع للقائمين على الحدث و رؤيتهم ..انا عرفت فعلا انك عضوة فى الهاكرز كمان من مدونتك بس فعلا فريق هادف جدا و متميز بكل أقسامة …شرفتى المدونة يا هنادى

بالنسبة لأرائك عن WordCamp وتحديدا عن نقطة إنهم كانوا موجهين الـ Sessions للمستخدمين العاديين مش المطورين فأعتقد إن ده عشان أول مرة وهما عايزين ينشروا البرنامج بتاعهم للناس عموما ,, فضلا عن إني زي ما سمعت من هنادي إنهم مكانش عندهم الصورة الكاملة لطبيعة المستخدمين في مصر وإن فيهم كتير مهتمين بتطوير البرنامج .. أعتقد المرات اللي جاية إن شاء الله الوضع هايختلف ,, كمان منظمين الحدث ليهم دور في تنظيم Sessions متخخصة زي كدة إن شاء الله ..

بس إن شاء الله السنة الجاية يكون أحسن و أحسن
